COVID-19 UPDATE

Important July 1st Update: On July 1st the Michigan Governor signed Senate Bill 876 into law stating that if a driving skills test applicant's Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) for automobile or motorcycle has expired; the test applicant permit has been granted an extension through September 30, 2020. If the test applicant's Level 1 Permit expired after March 1, 2020, he/she must apply for a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) at a branch office before taking a skills test.

You can schedule a Road Test/Driving Skill Test online at any of our 3 test site locations:

  • Taylor location: site location is at St. John's Lutheran Church at the corner of Telegraph & Northline (use the driveway off Northline Rd).
  • Melvindale location: site location is at 3401 Oakwood Blvd. in Melvindale at New Hope United Methodist Church.
  • Alpena location: site location is at 167 S Ripley Blvd in Alpena at First United Methodist Church.

Students who are under 18 must have had their temporary instruction permit (TIP) for at least 180 days and students over 18 for at least 30 days.

Road Test Cost: $60.00(rental car available)

The Auto Road Test is completed in 2 parts. The first part is called the Basic Maneuvers Skills Test, and the second part is the on Road Driving Skills Test.
